Fight Chix made the annual trek to Las Vegas for the UFC Fan Expo and UFC 161. This is always a huge event for Fight Chix, but this year was special because women in the UFC have really been a highlight. There was promotion everywhere for Miesha Tate vs Ronda Rousey coaching the next season of the Ultimate Fighter. Cat Zingano was getting lots of love from fans all wishing her a speedy recovery from her knee surgery. Even Lorenzo Fertitta tweeted about his support for women’s mma and Fight Chix part in the growth. Lets break it all down!
Day 1 July 4th
Elisabeth and I flew in to Las Vegas early and got the Fight Chix booth set up with help from Craig, our director of intangibles. Shortly after we picked up MIss Rara, checked in, and headed over to the best MMA store in Vegas, the LV Fight Shop. Arianny Celeste was already signing and Cat Zingano was on her way, signing for us and promoting her signature tee. The event went amazing as always. LV Fight Shop is a staple in the MMA community and always treats everyone first class.
Day 2 Expo Day
The UFC Fan Expo was packed again this year. We had Cat Zingano and Natalie Skyy signing at the booth and the fans loved to meet them both. Cat was showing the heart of a champion getting from booth to booth and stopping for all the fan on one leg! We had the pleasure of meeting lots of our twitter followers as well as friends from previous expos. We also finally got to meet “Stoney”. Stoney is a soldier who has served several years in both Iraq and Afghanistan. We won’t use his real name, because I don’t know if he wants to be public. Fight Chix sent him and his team some gift boxes over the years and we were thrilled to finally meet him. Trust us when we say, he is one of many of the unsung heroes that we are happy to give back to.
The day wrapped up with two exciting events. First we met up with Dr. AnnMaria, who was hosting a meet up for supporters of Spirit Lake. We got to try the game that teaches both math and Native American history. I’m a dead on shot with an arrow! We also were thrilled to meet the founders of Armbar Nation. They are doing great things for up and coming fighters! Ronda Rousey stopped in too and after a full day of signing at the booth, she got down on the floor to sign a young fan’s cast. She also made Elisabeth a nice stiff drink at the bar. Right from there we met up with Miss Rara and headed to the UFC business to business meeting with Lorenzo Fertitta. Lorenzo spoke about the future of the UFC, expanding into other countries and women’s MMA. He seemed impressed with Fight Chix and Miss Rara let him know about all the blood, sweat and tears we have put into the women’s side of MMA. We are looking forward to talking to him more and it was nice to have someone with his success and vision appreciate our work and passion.
We capped the night at the Ranger Up Party at Chateau. Lots of UFC Fighters in attendance but there is nothing like having drinks with Filthy Tom Lawler. He is one of the funniest dudes we have met and is always a good time!
Day 3-4 Expo and UFC 162
The Expo was even more packed on Saturday and Fight Chix did amazing. Gear was selling out and we met more great fans of MMA! We watched the fights at the Tuff Nuff viewing party. After a nice meal and a quick recharge we headed to LAX to celebrate wins with Mark Munoz and Tim Kennedy who’s parties were right next to each other! The following day was filled with something we didn’t have all weekend…..SLEEP! Then Craig and I headed over to the LV Fight Shop to meet up with BJ Penn and grab his limited edition Roots of Fight + RVCA tee. BJ was nice enough to shoot a quick video to our son Jase who is his biggest fan!
All and all, a successful trip!
