Thank You Houston, FIGHT CHIX UFC Fan Expo Experience

Elisabeth and I woke up SUPER early on Thursday to catch a 6am flight from Chicago Midway to Houston. We were packed to the gills with product for the UFC Fan Expo going down in Houston. This was our first ever trip to Texas, and I speak for both of us when I say, the people of Houston couldn’t be more friendly. We met Jesus via twitter in Houston. He offered to help set up our booth, so we took him up on the offer. We hooked him up with passes for the weekend and gear for his girlfriend. If you ever go to the Hard Rock in downtown Houston, be sure to find Jesus and TIP BIG. Follow him on Twitter too! He even had an extra ticket to Joe Rogan and took me!

Day one of the Expo was busy. We didn’t have a chance to even walk around the expo at all, because of all the traffic at the booth. The lovely Natalie Skyy was with us all weekend both helping expo guests and signing and taking pictures with fans. We also had Meisha Tate on hand both days with her Strike Force World Championship Belt. The highlight and slightly surreal moment on Friday came when Jonny Bones Jones made his way to the Fight Chix booth specifically because he wanted to get his wife and daughters some gear. Jonny came by our booth at the UFC Fan Expo in Vegas, and I was lucky enough to see his UFC Debut live in Minnesota at UFC 87. Anyone who has seen him fight knew he was something special, and we gave him some gear in Vegas, so he must have remembered—or his wife did—and he was back for more. This time around he was coming fresh off his victory over Rampage, so he had at least 40-50 fans surrounding him and his manager Malki. With the made rush of people in the booth Jonny joked that I was milking it saying I was looking for sizes! Haha, I really just wanted to make sure we got his kids the right size and hooked his wife up with some of the new styles. Malki then sent the crowd into shopping frenzy when he said “The next ten purchases at the Fight Chix booth get a signature” All and all a great day and an awesome surprise by Jon and Malki. Thanks Guys!

Friday evening we grabbed some snacks and I met up with Jesus to see Joe Rogan and Elisabeth and Natalie met up with Tony Jimenez the CEO of MicroTech, good friend and all around great guy. After the show I met up with all of them and we ran into all the cool people, Ryan Loco, James Law, Cole Miller, Miguel Torres, Rashad Evans and also got to meet Tony’s wife Lily and some of Frankie Edgar’s family. We then headed over to the TapouT/SilverStar party. We saw a ton of people there, but it was a little too crowded and we really hadn’t eaten dinner, so it was a brief visit. We then had the cab adventure from hell that finally led us to Denny’s where we “Slammed it up”

Expo Day 2 was crazy. We were busy the whole day. People were lined up late to see Miesha Tate, and Miesha stayed later to make sure everyone got a photo and signature. She was a real hit both days and people were thrilled to meet her. We had some pretty cool visitor to the booth on day two as well. Nick from Ranger Up came by. I have always been a fan of the Ranger Up brand and the true heroes that are associated with it. Their videos are stuff of legend, so check them out!  Buy the end of the day we literally sold out of everything we brought with us and we were ready to get some food, then head to UFC 136. Right before we close our good friend Renzo Gracie swing by for a hug and a picture. He is one of the coolest guys we’ve ever met in or out of MMA!

The card for UFC 136 totally delivered. We had amazing seats and could even hear some of the action. The Houston crowd was fantastic and highlights had to be Frankie’s come back win, Joe Lauzon’s submission win and Chael Sonnen’s post fight interview! After the fights we headed back to the hotel to get Cole Miller and his boy Leon to shoot over to our after party. I also was a part of the most beautiful elevator ride in the history of elevators! Picture if you will a 6′x8′ box and inside it is my gorgeous wife Elisabeth. Already that is awesome, but then you add Arianny Celeste, Chandella Powell and Natalie Skyy you have reach max load of elevator hotness. That was easily a sign of good things to come. We meet up with Mike THE TRUTH Jackson who is a fighter in the  MMA Circuit in Houston, and also totally hooked up our after party at Candy Lounge. The party was off the hook, with Cole Miller, in the house and Miesha Tate and Brian Caraway also coming we all had a blast. After we closed down the Candy Lounge we headed over to another club a few blocks away and the party continued. All and all Houston was a huge success and we want to thank all the fans and supporters of Fight Chix that make these events so great. Special thanks to Natalie Skyy, Miesha Tate, Cole Miller, Mike Jackson and my boy Jesus! Also special thanks to Vita Coco for keeping us hydrated all weekend! Love that coconut water!
